Last Tuesday Apple introduced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The new iPhones will be available in stores Friday.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
These two iPhones are a departure from the previous iPhone form factor and are much larger with stunning new displays.
The smartphones are diagonally sized at 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively. Wow! That’s a huge difference from the iPhone 5 series 4 inch display.
Apple increased the size of the iPhone 5 from the even smaller iPhone 4 and 4s. There are 2 new display sizes this time.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are also the thinnest iPhones Apple has ever made.
Both iPhones have Retina HD Displays.
They will run on the Apple A8 chip using iOS8.
iOS 8 is available free as of today.
The iPhones 6 and 6 Plus will also have improved iSight and Facetime cameras.
The adoption of a much larger format by Apple, is an interesting twist which competitors are only too happy to point out! I think it’s a great idea, although I like the size of the iPhone 5. The phone fits perfectly in my hand.
Both larger iPhones will definitely pull sales from existing Android users. As my girlfriend said too me: “I want to try Apple.”
Considering the recent press release from Apple titled “Apple Announces Record Pre-orders for iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus Top Four Million in First 24 Hours”, maybe other Android users feel the same way!
CUPERTINO, California—September 15, 2014 — Apple® today announced a record number of first day pre-orders of iPhone® 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the biggest advancements in iPhone history, with over four million in the first 24 hours.
“iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

At the end of it all, it’s hardware and software and Apple excels.
These devices seamlessly fit into the Apple ecosystem but also drive it in new directions. The introduction of Apple Pay will provide a way to eliminate a wallet which I’m not sure is entirely possible anytime soon. It will however enable the millions of iPhone users a secure and easy method of paying for goods and services.
